Description
Life has never been very kind to Joyce. Forced into the role of carer from an early age, she’s is only fourteen when she loses both her parents just weeks apart. She moves from Cornwall to Bristol and finally finds the happiness she craves, only for it to be cruelly ripped away from her when her adored employer is killed in an air raid.

About the Author:
Kathryn Cowling was born in Cornwall and still lives there today. Her previous two books, ‘Fairly Jane’ (2018) and ‘The Enduring Ripples of War’ (2019), feature many of the same characters who are also in this book, ‘Out of the Night and into the Dark’. Kathryn enjoys writing fiction about people living in the West of England during World War II.
