About the Author:

Born in 1945 in north London, Mike Hoare moved to Hertfordshire where he was educated at Hatfield Grammar school before taking a part-time degree in geology at London University. His working life has been spent in both the private and public sectors on groundwater quality protection and the investigation of contaminated land.

His interests include travel and walking both in the UK and abroad. He has a deep interest in the natural world, particularly in European butterflies and is a keen freshwater fisherman.

Mike lives in west Kent and is married, with two children and four grandchildren.
